Am in-day training session.

Underwiring poking out of bra - getting painful! Is difficult to discretely try and shove it back in! Something's going in the bin tonight! In the meantime, I shall just try not to move too suddenly and hope it doesn't keep moving and poke out!

I am starting my Master's in Metaphysical Sciences, and have the following three topics already approved for my Master's Thesis, and my two Doctoral Dissertations coming up. However there is some debate as to weather or not the topics are too broad. I'd like some feedback if possible.

for the Thesis
Buddhism and Metaphysics

For the Dissertations
1)Sacred Dance
2)Sacred Ecology

thanks!
16th-Jun-2007 11:59 pm - Scope of Practice Research Help?
harkness
I am researching for my dissertation (eek!) and need help finding more articles/books/studies/wacko opinions on scope of practice for mental health professionals (MFTs, Psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, etc) in California. More specifically, I need anything related to the knowledge of scope of practice the professionals have. In other words, how well do various professionals know what their SOP is and/or the SOP for other mental health fields?

Any resource or searching tips would be great. I've run into a bit of a wall.

Thanks so much.

Hello everyone. Just joined this community and wondering if you can help me.

I'm writing my masters dissertation at the University of Greenwich, London, and need a number of people to complete an online survey about museum websites. I am basically trying to find what people think of museum judging by its website only.

You will be asked to open a website in a new window, browse it for a while (as long as you normally would) and then answer some questions about the website, the museum and just a little bit about yourself.

It's fun survey and please use your imagination! :)
If you would like to help me with my research, then please follow this link:

Thanks a lot!

Some lj-friends and I have created a new LJ community...

narewrimo

We're a lot like NaNoWriMo, but without the fancy website and dedicated to research writing instead of fiction.

Feel free to join us for National Research Writing Month, from Nov 1 - Nov 30. The goal of this endeavor is to offer encouragement to get stuff done, to basically partake in a community dedicated to BIC (Butt-in-chair) and complete whatever research writing tasks we have on hand.

We invite you to join us for this marathon of research writing if you have any reports, articles, a disseration, a thesis, or basically any non-fiction writing you need to complete.

Feel free to post notes in the community about what you are doing, daily word counts, and links to where we can find your progress.

Good Luck and Productive Writing!

since I've made a real post!

But seriously nothiing too interesting has been happening here...
I've been getting frustrated with work, I feel a bit like this whole thesis thing has been stagnating and that I need a serious jump-start to get it back in gear. It's not helping that the advisor has had several of my first draft chapters for months now and has not gotten back to me about any of them (well besides a 'oh they look fine', which really isn't helpful), so I feel like I can't really re-work the old stuff and the writing of new stuff seems to be inhibited by the fact that I'm not getting any new data... I was hoping to be using the laser for some solids analysis, but it's broken, and the ICP-MS is still not fixed yet (it drives me craaazy because it's been probably 2 months now and I need to use that particular machine, and It's not like I'm in the position now to be waiting paitently until it's fixed). So yeah, work has been...well, frustrating to say the least. And then I feel like I'm being lazy and/or a cry baby because I'm not getting anything done, which of course makes me feel even suckier. I keep dreaming about the apocalypse which is also freaky (I've had apocalyptic dreams before, but never with this frequency!)... is it a signal that I'm not ready for the future? Does it mean that if I continue like this I'm going to be in big trouble? Or am I just being a paranoid nutcase? It's hard to tell sometimes :)

Socially, life has been pretty boring I've been out and about with friends a handfull of times, but really nothing super-interesting or funny has happened...MSU has even been sucking at football so my one outlet for fun and excitement has been actually sort of depressing and sad instead! But on an up note, the parents are in town next week which should be fun! We'll see some shows and eat out, it should be pretty enjoyable! Then after that I'm off to DC for the weekend to mooch off of a friend who is house hunting, so that weekend should be both fun and productive! So really, things should pick up a bit in the future. It'll just mean that I have to have fun and move forward with my thesis, which actually might be easier than feeling bored and lazy and trying to get the thesis done... I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Back to the thesis bit, I did accomplish my September goal of finishing the first draft of the entire background section, which is good, so I do have a good chunk of it behind me. The second-half will be difficult I imagine, but for different reasons than the first-half...because unlike putting together bits and pieces of new information to form a coherent explanation of something, I'll be having to shape original information and justify it in a manner that is interesting and usefull scientifically, so while I'll have less learning to do, I think that this half won't exactly be a walk in the park either!

My immediate goals are to have Ch 8 poisihed and shiny by the end of this week and to fill in some of the gaps that I've left in the background section (filling in figures and refs mostly, perhaps evaluating a conclusion or two). Then onto Ch 9, which I'll hope to have finished by the end of Oct.!

kitty writing my diss
hi :) i am new here too. i'm finishing my phd dissertation. hopefully by jan 25. i have been abd for 3 or 4 years. I passed my comprehensive exams 5 years ago, and i'm not sure how long after that i defended my prospectus, but the time has come to go! :) so this morning, sunday, i just put my computer back together on my new desk, which has a pull out keyboard drawer! i am so happy about that. big excuse gone forever. okay, my pact for the day is to alternately cook a turkey and some homemade spaghetti sauce plus spend the entire day and evening writing and revising my section 1.3. I have to submit the entire draft, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 on Thursday morning, so that gives me *four whole days* including today to revise and create. that's a long time, right? okay, baby steps, turtle power..... tortoise mojo. my graduation deadline is 1/25. interim deadlines look like sept 15 for main chapter, oct 15 for last resort chapter, nov. 15 for proportionality/likelihood of success chapter, dec 15 for right intention and competent authority, and jan 15 for intro and conclusions. i have drafts and ideas about each chapter, so if i keep myself to the grindstone, i can do it. go go go!

Okay chapter 3 draft 1 done! And sent off to "fearless leader"... but I imagine I won't hear back from him for a few weeks (although I might get lucky if he's bored on his flight back from Vienna...) I would really like some feedback though, I'd like to know whether or not what I've written is anything like what a thesis should be... Am I too detailed, not enough? Too many figures, not enough real examples? Too little theory? I'm just not sure! Hopefully what I've written so far is at least a good base to build better drafts on top of!
And only a day late!

My next goal is to have Ch 6 "Metal Fractionation in the Environment" Draft one done by next Monday! Which means another exciting weekend for me! ;)
